Spine Care
If you are experiencing back pain, there is hope in finding relief. For most people, back pain tends to be focused on 3 specific regions of the back:

Neck region (cervical spine) |

Upper or Middle Back (thoracic spine) |
 |
Lower Back (lumbar spine) |

The majority of patients respond to a short course of anti-inflammatory medication, as well as a period of physical therapy.
Occasionally, patients with more severe symptoms or poor response to therapy are referred for diagnostic review, therapeutic injections and/or orthopedic neck or back braces. CAT scans or MRI scans may also be required for the doctor to fully evaluate a patient's symptoms.
If all forms of conservative (non-surgical) back pain treatment fail to provide back pain relief, surgery may be recommended. The decision to undergo back surgery is not taken lightly. The doctor will fully explain the risks and benefits of the recommended procedure so the patient can arrive at an educated decision.
In some circumstances, spine surgery may not be a viable treatment option for back pain. The doctor will recommend different options in those situations. |
